Main Street Singers

Senior and Junior Choirs:

The Main Street Singers, Inc is a group based in New Britain, CT whose goal it is to provide singing opportunities to youth bridging race, religion, social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds while creating an artistic community. There are two choirs - the Junior Choir (grades 3-4) and the Senior Choir (grades 5-8) to achieve this goal. Background information:

The Main Street Singers provides the opportunity for children with diverse backgrounds in greater New Britain to participate in a nonsectarian treble-voice choir that strives to achieve artistic excellence while fostering a life-long love of music and singing. A community-based organization founded by South Church, The Main Street Singers welcomes boys and girls of all races, religions, economic and ethnic backgrounds in grades three through eight to create an artistic community. The MSS fosters the children’s musical growth while recognizing and understanding the unique circumstances and abilities of each child. The goal is to create “a community of children’s voices” that will inspire both those who participate in the group and those who hear them sing.

The Main Street Singers (MSS) is a multi-racial, multi-cultural arts organization that brings together a diverse group of children from urban and suburban neighborhoods, schools, religious institutions, and community organizations to discover the power of singing together and to serve as ambassadors for this city. The Main Street Singers’ staff works closely with each child to develop strong relationships and assure the greatest possible success, both musically and socially.

The MSS Junior Choir is open to all children in grades three and four. We encourage the development of strong relationships among youngsters in the Junior Choir. We provide opportunities for the Junior and Senior Choirs to develop friendships and to rehearse and perform together. We encourage all MSS families to be involved with the choir through parent meetings and family nights.
